Australian Job Market An Excellent Career Destination for Foreigners

According to the report given by Australian Bureau of Statistics in 2007, about 9% of qualified Australians are unemployed.

The line of job search of unemployed Australians in the job market for Australia is on the increasing scale. As per this report, most of their time, say about 16 weeks on an average, is fully spent for searching for jobs.

The report states that even among the all employed people percentage, everyone is not employed full time. Only about 65% are employed for full time and about 25% employed part time with 10% among this working both full and part time.

After reading this report, I started taking out the earlier year’s statistics of unemployment rates in Australia. I thought of comparing the unemployment rate in Australia for various years which helped me in arriving at a conclusion. The unemployment rate in Australia in October 2001 was about 7% which changed to 5.1% in June 2005. In June 2006, this further decreased to 4.9%. So the Australian government took the decision for filling this small gap with candidates having attributes of high skills and specialized skills in their work area.

Actually this is a healthier environment and encouraging situation for all people like me who have a good skill set and want to work in Australia.

There is a huge demand for specialist skills which enables top recruiters to search for skilled worked among different countries.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics also took statistics about people who did not participate in job searches throughout the year. The future of these results estimates to about 4.7 million people. These people were not looking for any work and so did not even think about job search. Of these statistical estimates, about 39% were already retired and about 28% were home makers. The physically challenged people estimates to 7% who did not participate in job searches throughout the year.

I personally wanted to work in Australia for greater career growth and for getting excellent pay for my skills. From my work experience in Australia for 4 years, I could surely say that I got both of these satisfied to the highest level.

In the recent days, though the economy may be on the downward scale, the salaries for all employees across different sectors have been consistently rising in Australia. I found this in my work experience across main states like South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia. This solid good payment structure helps Australians in building strong business strength.

I am working in the information technology sector and one of my friends is working in the construction and property sector. With an ongoing discussion and research about payments among the different sectors we could find out that sectors like construction and property, manufacturing and operations and procurement have excellent pay structures. Queensland in Australia leads in payment structure particularly in civil and structural engineering and construction and property sector.

I reside in Sydney and my cadre namely program manager received a salary rise reaching up to $150,000 to $170,000 which is a remarkably excellent one. The best part of this salary increase is even the candidates working in helpdesk support or service desk having about one or two years experience got a good salary raise of about 11.6% on an average.

So from my experience and published research report given by officials, the job market in Australia is highly lucrative and an excellent career destination for foreigners.
